Learn moreCrows Landing, California · Stanislaus County
Crows Landing is a very small unincorporated community on the county's rural west side, about 20 miles southwest of Modesto on CA-33 -- and the real site of Stanislaus County's own Fink Road Sanitary Landfill.

Founded by John Crow as a San Joaquin River crossing and later relocated four miles west for Southern Pacific Railroad service, Crows Landing's history includes the former NASA Crows Landing Airport -- built as a WWII Naval Auxiliary Landing Field and later used by NASA's Ames Research Center for experimental aircraft testing before closing in 2011. Members of the Crow family still farm walnuts in the area today, and the county's own Fink Road Sanitary Landfill (4000 Fink Road) sits right here -- the real disposal facility that serves this whole region.
Mostly agricultural and walnut-orchard property cleanup given the working farmland around this small community; it's also worth knowing that this is the town where Stanislaus County's own Fink Road landfill physically sits, which factors into how we route and disposal-plan jobs out this way.

Reached from Modesto via CA-33, the county's rural west-side highway -- Crows Landing sits on that same route just north of Newman, one of the longer, more rural runs in our service area.
